No matter what you want from whatever business, in Bogota you can get it delivered.
Every shop of every kind has one or more guys (girls maybe too, though I have never seen one) hanging out on a motorcycle to bring things to your house when you call. This includes the grocery stores, the pharmacies, all restaurants of course, local bakeries and markets, whatever.
When I go to a restaurant in my neighborhood, I always ask for their domicilio menu. And almost every other business has a refrigerator magnet or flyer or some such with their phone number so you can call them up when you need something.
A few places tack on a little charge, like maybe $0.40 for the service, but most don’t charge anything extra. Like all gringos, I think it’s a good idea to tip the domicilio a few thousand pesos.
You can even call up the bus companies and have them domicilio your bus tickets to your house. Then, you leave the money with your portero, and you don’t even have to be home when they arrive.
